The necklace features a brass base with rhodium plating. Shebag uses exactly the same base material and plating process as the original, with particular emphasis on the rhodium finish: it must not be too thin, as a thicker rhodium layer ensures hypoallergenic properties and long-term durability.

Most Dior silver-tone necklaces — whether fashion jewelry or high-end fine jewelry — fall into two main categories in terms of materials and craftsmanship:

• Fashion line: Usually made with a brass (Cu-Zn) or white metal alloy (Cu-Ni-Zn) base; some higher-grade designs may use 925 sterling silver. Brass and white alloys are easy to shape via stamping, cost-effective, harder than pure silver, and less prone to deformation.
• High-end jewelry line (Dior Joaillerie): Made from 18K white gold or platinum, with significantly higher prices and not typically part of the fashion line.

  Fashion pieces do not use natural diamonds; most employ cubic zirconia (CZ) as a diamond simulant. With a refractive index of around 2.15 and dispersion close to that of diamond, CZ stones are cut in the “hearts and arrows” style or a similar standard brilliant cut to maximize sparkle.

• High-end pieces use natural diamonds cut in the standard 57/58-facet brilliant style, with strict grading for clarity and color.In fashion jewelry, the silver-tone finish is usually achieved with rhodium plating, sometimes over a nickel under-layer. In recent years, both the EU and Dior have emphasized nickel-free processes to avoid skin irritation. Rhodium plating protects against tarnish, enhances shine, and is typically 0.1–0.5 µm thick.
• Even in high-end white gold pieces, a thin rhodium layer is often applied to improve brightness and wear resistance.
